For our registry, we decided to do something a little bit different. We signed up for an account at Wishpot. The great thing about Wishpot is that instead of only being able to put things on there from one store, we could add items from any shopping site on the internet... or even better, we could put things on there that were experiences instead of only items. This way people could give as a gift something like a scuba diving adventure or a meal at a fancy restaurant.
Here's how it works. When you go to our Wishpot list, there are a bunch of items listed, just like a normal registry. Each item will have a description, photo, and also will show how many of them are desired, and how many of them have already been reserved. On the right side of each item, there will be either a "Buy it" button or a "Contribute" button.
The "Buy it" button works just like a normal registry. When you click it, it will first ask you if you want to reserve the item. Click "yes"... that way other people who use the registry will know that this item was reserved. Then you will be taken to a page where you can buy the item. If you made a mistake, and actually do not want to buy the item, please go back to the registry and "un-reserve" the item... this is important cause otherwise people will think this item has already been purchased!"
The "Contribute" button will allow you to make a contribution towards purchasing an item. This is for pricier things, so people can chip in. The button will say how much of the item has already been contributed like "Contribute 0%" means nobody has contributed for this yet, but "Contribute 90%" would mean that 90% of this item has been paid for. Just click the button, and it will open a new window where you can pay either w/ a credit card or with paypal. just put in whatever amount you want to contribute, and then fill out the credit card info.
Hopefully this isn't too confusing... sorry! Feel free to ask us if you have any questions. Oh, our shipping address is 65 Hermann St. #6, SF, CA 94102 if you need it. And if you're wondering why we have so many things on there about Colombia... it because that's where we are going on our honeymoon!
