Our story

We both ran in the same circle of friends for several years, but didn't really know each other very well. Eventually, we connected through our common interest in thought-provoking books. Soon, we realized that we have much more in common than just books... we have the same juvenile and ridiculous sense of humor, enjoy deep, meaningful conversations, love to travel, are fascinated by what makes people tick, and have a ton of other common interests from food to music to whatever.

In early 2003, we spent some time traveling in Thailand and Laos and hella bonded. During the next several years, Jamie moved to Sacramento for school and Vlad spent 14 months traveling; yet, we still remained best friends, despite the distance. Inevitably, in April of 2007 we finally took the plunge and started dating - and it really was the best decision ever.

In August of 2009, we took a trip to Russia where Vlad was able to sneak the engagement ring into the country without getting caught by airport security. He proposed in front of the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. Luckily, Jamie said yes and Vlad managed to hand her the ring without dropping it. So, now we're getting married and we're totally psyched!

It's been an amazing almost 3 years, filled with a lot of laughter and a lot of love. We were always very close when we were friends, but managed to get even closer as a couple. We're both really similar - we're both silly and playful and don't take ourselves too seriously. And our differences strike a nice balance; Vlad's a big-picture sort of person, and Jamie's very detail-oriented. We've learned a lot about each other, human relationships, and even ourselves. We've both got a thirst for adventure, and we're really looking forward to the next step in our journey. For now, we're enjoying living together in San Francisco with the newest addition to our family, Lucca the adorable (and smelly) Boston Terrier.
